I think poprock that if you read the other posts posted earlier you will see that there are arguements for and against its use. You will see that those against it are because the majority of peole cannot understand any of it and from a different angle and one that I stronlgy advocate is that it encourages poor language skills, punctuation and promotes the skill of not speaking properly.
Think of it in another way. Hopefully you will be looking for a good job with good pay when you finally leave the educaiton system. What do you think your potential employer will think when you use txt.talk in your application form? |

Welcome ell bop ! (cool name)
Yes, I think on this type of forum, where its also used for collectors to search for packs etc., proper language is better than text talk from a database point of view - plus for oldies like me stuck in the 70/80's, we wouldn't know what was being said otherwise

Proper English, including both grammar, spelling and punctuation to the best of your ability is what is preferable. But really, as long as it's easy to read it's okay. However, some people find it annoying (including me) when people use text talk. It turns out it's only younger people who use text speak, bought up in the world of mobile phones, where quick texting helps. But on the internet forum:- you have the keyboard.
There really is no reason that one should use text speak on online forums. It is preferred by all, and how will it effect you if you do you use it? Surely you have to learn English before you learn txt so why not get used to it? Writing essays in text speak doesn't help."[insert sentence in txt tlk here]" |
