Well, second year in a row for a Brit to win F1. This time Jenson Button. Well done to him. Well deserved.

Jenson Button could make an appearance at Bluewater tomorrow to give shoppers a taste of Formula One.
Quite surprising considering he only won the race yesterday in Brazil meaning he would be jetlagged over the Atlantic! |

Donington Park's status as a potential host for the 2010 British Grand
Prix is looking precarious after it failed to raise the required amount
of funding to stage the race.
The track needed to secure a £135 million bond to host the race. Silverstone could pick up the pieces and do a deal with Ecclestone but it said it is not interested in a one-off and will only settle on a long-term deal to host the British Grand Prix. |

Jenson Button could join Lewis Hamilton, the man he replaced as Formula
One world champion, in an all-British dream team at McLaren next season.
Button, 29, has yet to sign a new deal with Brawn GP. Button’s talks with Brawn have reached an impasse, with the team dragging their heels over matching his £6m-plus pay demands. McLaren could easily beat that to pair Button with Hamilton, who is on £15m a year. |

Bookies think newly-crowned world drivers' champion Jenson Button is a
shoo-in for the BBC Sports Personality vote, but I have my doubts.
Jessica Ennis is the 5-2 second-favourite, which gives you some idea what this year has been like. Others in the running are Andrew Strauss, Ryan Giggs and Chris Hoy. My money's on the Sunderland beach ball. ![]() |

If you want to know how Jenson Button won the Championship then you can watch the special programme on BBC1 Saturday 1pm-2pm.
Called Formula 1 2009: Jenson Button's Glorious Season Jake
Humphrey presents a look back at one of the most eventful seasons in
Formula 1 history. It was also a memorable season for his team Brawn, who won the constructors title in their debut year. Edited by Medusa - 03 November 2009 at 17:58 |

I'm not a huge F1 fan, I tend to watch
the start of races then come back near the finish as there doesn't
always seem too much going on inbetween, so I have no favourites.
But as an impartial observer, I get the impression Button is not really someone you can compare with the great names of the past who have won the championship. It seems a mediocre and lukewarm victory, there is no panache or glamour attached. He seems a nice bloke though, he interviewed well after the race. Good luck to him in the future. The BBC did a magnificent job. Well done. ![]() Edited by Medusa - 03 November 2009 at 22:51 |

He does come across really well, very humble with it too IMO, always first to point out that its a Team win and not just all about him

Toyota will be absent from the grid next season after the team’s parent
company announced its withdrawal from Formula One racing today.
The team had been competing since 2002. |

Jenson Button's future looked as uncertain as ever after
his boss Ross Brawn made the tacit admission that he will not match the
F1 world champion’s £6million-plus contract demand. Brawn said Button would instead be handed the freedom to negotiate his own sponsorship deals to make up the shortfall if he re-signs. I hope Jenson stays at Brawn. I think he has a responsibility to. Ross Brawn came in and saved his career; one that was lacklustre before this year at best.Going to McLaren would be a nightmare as they are so ensconced around Hamilton, Jenson would be playing catch up all the time. At Brawn he would be top dog and would have the backing of championship winning team as well. No doubt Brawn got the lead on others this season and will not have such a benefit this season. But they won't be dead in the water either. Oh well folks, at least he will be back for another thrill! |

I remember watching Jenson on Top Gear last year. He said that he would trade all of his money and everything he owned just to win the tournament. Is he poor now then?

F1 world champion Jenson Button joins McLaren in a move that will make him part of an all-English team with Lewis Hamilton.
The confirmation follows news that former world champion Kimi Raikkonen will not race in F1 next year. |

Formula 1 chief Bernie Ecclestone says the fate of the British Grand Prix will be decided at a meeting on 9 December.
The meeting on 9 December is when it would be taken off the calendar. If there's no contract in place, there won't be a British Grand Prix. Donington Park was set to host the British GP but was seemingly ruled out after failing to show it had the necessary £135m funding. |
